Smartboards in classrooms gives students a great deal of advantages. In some cases you should look at things from a student point of view. Sitting in the desk, watching the teacher write over and over on the whiteboard or chalkboard gets pretty boring. With a Smartboard, the students are able to interact more with the lesson physically. Instead of the teacher just giving the lectures, the teacher would be able to make the lesson more interesting and fun--while the students are still learning, but enjoying the lesson at the same time.
Check it out... Students will more than likely want to get more involved in the class. Kids now are hook to technology, so with a Smartboard the students would be more focused. The students would be learning, because of course, they would want to get up and touch the "cool looking whiteboard".
With a Smartboard, more than one student can work on the board without interfering with the other work that the other students are doing on the board. Also, I know from experience that all the students will want to have a chance with working on the board.. So being able to have multiple people on the Smartboard gives everyone a chance to interact without there being any complications of not being able to do what the other students did.
Something that was always funny to me was when the teacher was writing and then the chalk breaks. I know they really got tired of that. A Smartboard doesn't need chalk or markers, so you will not have to worry about the marker drying out!
Smartboards allow access to the Internet. Having to get availability to the computer lab, and then dragging all of your students to the lab can be a huge hassle. Instead of having to go through that, you could easily pull upthe website you will like to show the students and teach your lesson without taking time out of class!
